1 June 2017 – News on Amanda Phillips

It is with tremendous sadness that I have to tell you that Amanda died yesterday. While on holiday in France earlier this week, Amanda suffered a fall incurring serious head injuries which proved fatal. I know I speak for us all when I say that our thoughts and prayers are with her husband and family.

Amanda’s death is a dreadful tragedy. She led Paradigm Trust with enormous energy, tremendous skill and most of all an enduring passion to give every child an outstanding education.

She will be missed so much by everyone and we understand you will have questions – many of which we will not be able to answer yet. We are working on contingency plans and further news will be published in the Paradigm Trust website as it is available.

Egyptian Remix Ringtones Downloads

As part of last term’s topic on the Egyptians, a number of pupils from Year 4 composed and produced their very own Egyptian-style ringtones with visiting music technology specialist, Joe Allen. They used Apple GarageBand to mix samples of traditional Egyptian instruments with contemporary beats and sound effects to create their masterpieces.

Download the results and use them on your mobile!

Train to teach with Paradigm – applications open on 27 October

We offer initial teacher education (primary and secondary, all subject areas) through our salaried School Direct programme. As a trainee teacher you will have access to invaluable school and classroom experience that will equip you with the knowledge, skills and experience you will need to become an excellent class teacher.

This programme is for graduates and career changer graduates wishing to train to become teachers. We are also able to offer parallel, salaried training opportunities for strong candidates (secondary only) who do not have a degree but who can demonstrate clear aptitude and desire to develop a teaching career. We would consider applications for salaried training places from school leavers who have, or are predicted to achieve, strong A levels (or equivalent) and can demonstrate an interest in, and experience of, working with children and young people.

More information is available here.

GarageBand comes to Old Ford Primary!

Pupils from year 5 composed music and sound effects for a topic-linked advert as part of a project using Garageband on iMac computers.

Pupils watched the original advert, observed the teacher begin to create a soundtrack and were then given free reign over their own. The group appraised the original music, discussed how it suited the mood and purpose of the advert, and considered this in their own work .
